Alert to Lead Thefts From Places of Worship

Following two incidents of theft of lead from church roofs in Warwickshire and an attempted incident where offenders got onto the roof, but an alarm went off and the offenders left empty handed; Warwickshire Police are asking all places of worship to be vigilant, review their present security and ask people living nearby to report any suspicious activity.
As well as the recent incidents at Newbold, Willoughby and Wootton Wawen, theft of lead from church roofs has also been reported in Leicestershire and Northamptonshire near our border.

Inc 73 of 6/8/18 – Attempted theft from Wootton Wawen
Inc 137 of 20/8/18 – Theft of lead in Willoughby
Inc 259 of 27/5/18 – Theft of lead in Newbold on Avon.
