E Scooters

E-Scooters are defined as ‘powered transporters’, the laws that apply to motor vehicles apply to powered transporters and E-Scooters fall within this definition.
This does not apply to electrically-assisted pedal cycles they have their own regulations.
Any privately owned E-Scooter can not be ridden on any public place ( Road, pavement, cycle lane, parks) without the rider having the appropriate driving licence, insurance and other legal requirements that a motor vehicle would have.
Certain towns have trials of E-Scooters that can be hired, and these will be branded with the hire company logo, by hiring one of these E-Scooters you will be insured, you have to be over 16 years old and have a full provisional licence.
