Field Fire in Maxstoke

Warwickshire Fire & Rescue Service received the first of two 999 calls at 12:56 on Wednesday 8th August reporting a cornfield on fire on Castle Lane in Maxstoke. One fire engine from Coleshill was initially mobilised. The callers informed the fire control operators that this was a fast spreading fire and was in danger of spreading to a combine harvester in the field, due to this information Fire Control mobilised an extra fire engine from Atherstone Fire Station. Firefighters extinguished the fire using hose reels. The combine harvester was not affected by the fire.
